Northland Team Trophy
On 6 August, Whangarei played host to Dargaville, Kerikeri and Pahia for the Northland Teams Trophy. This comprises three Round Robin tournaments, Junior, Intermediate and Open between the four clubs. Graduation Ceremony
The class of 2022 graduated on Monday 18th July 2022. We have 24 graduates this year and many of the new players came to receive their certificates and a copy of the Club yearbook. We had a good turn out of experienced players to applaud and afterwards there was a brief session of social bridge. Practice sessions will continue Tuesday mornings and Monday evenings. These are a halfway house between lessons and competitive club sessions. Experienced players are welcome to join in but only simple systems are allowed.

Whangarei sweep the board in Towai Cup challenge
The Towai Cup remains in the hands of Whangarei Bridge Club. Two teams in each grade of Junior, Intermediate and Open took part in the local challenge match against Kerikeri. The junior and intermediate teams romped home easily, whilst the Opens managed a smaller win to make it a clean sweep for Whangarei.

Alan Pumfleet and Juliet Golightly held their nerve to clinch second place and the last automatic qualifying place. Jane Stearns qualified for the Women's team with Chery Winsor from the Howick Club.
