New Year success for Whangarei Players

A full turn out at the Craigs Investment Kerikeri tournaments over the weekend saw success for many of our Whangarei players.  The Swiss pairs event was won by Glennis Bilton and Len Dent.

Third place went to John McIntosh and Andrew Liu, who were clearly saving themselves for Day 2.  In the Open Pairs on Sunday John and Andrew emerged the champions with 68.07% in the morning and 65.64% in the afternoon.

Runners up were Richard Bland and former NZ senior international from Tutukaka, Brian Mace. Third were Margaret Hooson and Neil Ruddell.

Craigs Investments provided sponsorship that allowed very generous prizes through the field.  Gaining a session prize and finishing top intermediates were a delighted Laura Maton and Kim Thomas.
