Graduation Ceremony

The class of 2022 graduated on Monday 18th July 2022. We have 24 graduates this year and many of the new players came to receive their certificates and a copy of the Club yearbook. We had a good turn out of experienced players to applaud and afterwards there was a brief session of social bridge. Practice sessions will continue Tuesday mornings and Monday evenings. These are a halfway house between lessons and competitive club sessions. Experienced players are welcome to join in but only simple systems are allowed.

Whangarei players shine in InterProvincial trials

Congratulation to our players who have qualified to represent the Northland Auckland Region in the national finals in November.  Kevin Grundy and Kim Thomas finished top (by some margin) in the intermediate section.  Alan Pumfleet and Juliet Golightly held their nerve to clinch second place and the last automatic qualifying place.  Jane Stearns qualified for the Women's team with Chery Winsor from the Howick Club.

Outstanding results in Novice Pairs finale

Our 5 week Novice Pairs handicap concluded Monday evening playing sessions. Congratulations to Julie Kelsall and Judy Allison from 2021 lessons who emerged the overall winners. In the final night we saw two of the pairs excel on X-Club.  Leading New Zealand were Kevin Grundy and Barry Johnson, with Alan Pumfleet and Juliet Golightly third across the nation. Congratulations all.
